How to "crack" an iPhone
The first link you need to check out, if you’re interested in unlocking the iPhone, is the iphone-dev team’s blog. If it says there that the iPhone 3G cannot be “cracked” yet, that’s just the way it is!
If iphone-dev is too cryptic or you’re scared of the command line, don’t worry, within a few days of the solution being published, you’ll find excellent tutorials covering whatever you need on modmyifone. Heads up, you need to create an account to download files from them.

Nearly a year after getting my iPhone, I can say for sure that these sites are all you need to “crack” it.
There’s just one more interesting link for “geeks” like me, the hackint0sh forum.
Note: the iPhone 3G cannot be unlocked yet.
